A victims of crime campaigner has appeared in court via video link charged with breaching Covid quarantine rules.
Self-employed Marcia Brabbs, 54, of Ballacain House, Little Mill Road, Onchan, pleaded not guilty to failing to comply with a direction notice requiring her to self.
She also denied a charge of provoking behaviour tending to a breach of the peace.
Both charges relate to an incident at the Ballacain courtyard cottages on Thursday (October 15).
The court heard that the defendant had been off-island and was required to self-isolate until October 23.
But it is alleged she entered Bluebell Cottage, one of the holiday lets in the grounds of Ballacain House, and became involved in a confrontation with a tenant.
The four holiday lets at Ballacain are used for Covid self-isolation but the complainant was not self isolating at the time.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes granted bail in the sum of £500 on the condition that Miss Brabbs does not enter any other property in the grounds of Ballacain House or contact the complainant other than by writing or email in respect of her continued occupation of Bluebell Cottage.
Mrs Hughes said there were issues in respect of the charges that needed resolution.
The case was adjourned for a pre-trial review on December 15.
Police arranged for the defendant’s transport back home.
As chairman of PrisonWorks, Miss Brabbs received an award from the UK Prime Minister in 2017 for the charity's work on prisoner rehabilitation and restorative justice. She also founded domestic abuse charity Safe, Strong Secure.
