A cyclist died this morning after an accident near Peel.

It happened around 8:30am on the Poortown Road near to the old quarry entrance.
The collision involved a car driven by a local woman and a pedal cycle ridden by a local man.
As a result of this collision the man was taken to hospital and later died as a result of injuries sustained.
The driver of the vehicle and passenger were not injured.
Police say the road between the Highwayman roundabout and Ballig Bridge will remain closed while investigations take place.
