A father who has admitted a charge of possessing indecent images of children has been given permission from the court to reside at his family home with his child.

The man cannot be named for legal reasons as it would lead to the child being identified.

The man appeared in court on Thursday, when he asked for his bail to be varied to allow him to have a dual residence as his bail address to enablehim to live at his mother’s or the family home.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood said his client had left the matrimonial home previously but his wife was now finding it difficult to look after their child.

The application was opposed by prosecuting advocate Barry Swain. But magistrates granted the bail variation allowing the man to reside at either address. He is due to be sentenced on April 30.
