A Port Erin man has been fined £500 for driving without insurance or a vehicle licence.
Nicolas Colburn, of Carlton Apartments, also had his licence endorsed with six penalty points.
The 25-year-old was stopped by police on December 19 on the Mountain Road travelling to Douglas. Checks found his licence expired in August 2018. He was given five days to produce insurance but when he did, it was found to have started on December 20, the day after he was stopped.
Colburn admitted both offences saying there had been confusion between him and his father over the tax and insurance.
Defence advocate Aalish Hannan said Colburn bought the vehicle from his father earlier in the day when he was stopped. ’He believed all was in order,’ said the advocate. ’He has backdated the tax now.’
Magistrates also ordered Colburn to pay £50 prosecution costs.
