Police are asking all dog walkers on the island to be vigilant when letting their dogs off the lead in public places.

This follows reports of a quantity of ’modified’ dog biscuits being left scattered on grassed areas in Tromode.

The biscuits have a slit down the middle for medication to be placed within.

A dog subsequently ate some of the biscuits and as a precaution is with the vets for testing and any necessary treatment.

The police said: ’At this time it’s unknown if the biscuits were made like this, or adapted by an individual.

’It is also unknown if anything had been placed into the biscuits, or if this was a deliberate act as opposed to someone innocently dropping treats on the floor.’

Anyone who can assist Police with this enquiry is asked to contact PC 184 Elliot Butler at Police headquarters on 631212.
