Police are warning drivers not to do u-turns Douglas promenades between the ongoing roadworks.

A spokesman said: ’This is not permitted and will be dealt with if seen by officers.’

Police say they have also had reports of cars breaking the speed limit.

’The whole of Douglas promenades is currently a 20mph speed limit,’ said the spokesman.

’The Promenade walkway where parking is permitted has a 10mph limit due to pedestrians being in the area. Please also observe this.

’Unmarked vehicles will be monitoring speeds and driving standards.

’The improvements on the Promenade are necessary and will take some time to complete. Please allow extra time for your journey and don’t speed or take risks.’
