Fire crews were called out to a bedroom fire at the weekend.
On arrival, the officer in charge of the first appliance established that all occupants were safely out of their home.
A breathing apparatus team (pictured right) entered the smoke-logged house with a hose reel and CO2 extinguisher.
They discovered the fire was confined to a bedroom.
Once extinguished, crews checked for hot spots with thermal imaging cameras before ventilating the smoke-logged home using a ’positive pressure ventilation fan’.
Station officer Matt Tyrer said: ’Smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries.
’If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out.’
Two fire appliances attended the scene.
