Police have released dramatic footage of a collision involving a car and a tram in Laxey.
The incident took place in May when an MER tram, which was heading north, collided with a car which had been attempting to turn left into Ham and Egg Terrace.
Fortunately no one was injured but the front steps of the tram were buckled and the car sustained significant damage to its front passenger side.
In court recently, a local man was fined a total of £850 for driving without due care and attention, and for having two illegal tyres and no vehicle licence. His driving licence was endorsed with seven penalty points.
A poliice spokesman said: ’The message from the Constabulary is that during the busier summer months it is important to be aware of trams operating and to ensure that when turning into, or crossing tram lines, that it is safe to do so.’
