A woman from Port Erin has been convicted of drink-driving and assaulting a police officer.
Jennifer Clare Bruce, of Ballafurt Road, admitted the offences and will be sentenced on November 28 after the preparation of a probation report.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court how, at 9pm on October 12, Bruce was leaving the car park at College View in Castletown driving a Honda Civic.
As she exited the car park she hit a parked car which was unattended causing damage to the number plate and bumper.
She also collided with the kerb as she came out of the car park and drove off.
Bruce, who is 32, was driving from Castletown to Port Erin but as she went through Colby she hit another unattended parked car, this time a Ford Fiesta, damaging its wing mirror.
Part of her own wing mirror was also left behind.
Bruce’s driving did not improve as she reached Port Erin where she hit a lamp post in Ballafesson Road.
She then turned on to the grass, leaving tyre tracks and heading back onto the road where she hit three more parked cars, a Nissan, a Volkswagen Golf and a Vauxhall Safira, shunting it on to the kerb.
Her own car was said to have nearly rolled but stopped just past the junction with Edremony Estate.
Bruce turned on her hazard lights and got out.
When police arrived they reported that she was intoxicated but she was unable to provide a breath sample at the roadside.
Bruce was said to have become aggressive, swearing and telling a police officer: ’I’ll knock you out’, then kicking out, hitting one officer on the thigh.
At police headquarters she failed a breathalyser test with a reading of 99 - the legal limit is 35.
She was interviewed the following morning and admitted driving but said she could not recall the incident but believed she had swerved to avoid a cat.
Bruce said she recalled hitting her head in the police van but when told of the assault said she could not remember it, but added that it ’sounded like her’.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500.
