A self-employed fisherman has admitted drink-driving while more than twice the legal limit.

Simon Morley, of Mooragh Promenade, Ramsey, failed a breathalyser test with a reading of 81. The legal limit is 35.

He will be sentenced on June 15 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that Morley was seen by police while driving on Gladstone Avenue in Ramsey on March 13 at 1.24am.

Police had followed him and when they stopped him he was said to have stumbled out of the car.

Morley, who is 29, was described as slurring his words, unsteady on his feet, and smelling of alcohol.

He failed a roadside breathalyser test and was subsequently arrested.

He then failed a further test at police headquarters with the reading of 81.

The court heard that the offender has a similar conviction in 2017 in the UK.

Morley was represented in court by advocate Paul Glover.

Magistrates ordered that a full probation report should consider all sentencing options, including custody.

Bail continues in the sum of £250 with conditions to contact probation and live at his home address.
