A man who crashed his car twice on his way home from a party has admitted failing to provide a breath sample.

Derek James Manley, aged 37, of Palatine Road, Douglas, will be sentenced on July 10 after the preparation of a probation report.

The court heard how, on May 6, police were called to Palatine Road after a report of an accident.

Officers found Manley’s Nissan Micra had suffered significant damage to its front offside after colliding with a Ford Ka.

Police went to Manley’s home and he told them: ’This is going to sound really bad but I went to a do for my club and don’t remember how I got back.’

Another collision involving the Micra was reported to have occurred in Tromode Road.

Manley failed a breathalyer test but was then unable to provide adequate breath when required at police headquarters.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said that the probation report should consider all options, including custody.

Mrs Hughes said: ’I am concerned there were two collisions and you don’t recall driving home.’
