A driver who fraudulently used a disabled parking badge threatened the parking warden when she was questioned about it.
Hannah Gawne was spotted with a grey VW Golf parked in a disabled parking space at the Station Road car park in Ramsey on March 11.
Jane Gray, for the prosecution, told the court Gawne rounded on the warden, telling her: ’I know who you are and I know where you live.’
She told the court, the badge on display was for Gawne’s aunt, who was not with her at the time. There were also plenty of other parking spaces available in the car park.
She said Gawne was told the badge could be revoked for misuse.
Gawne, of Queen’s Pier Road in Ramsey, admitted misusing the badge, entering her plea by post. In mitigation, she told the court she was a single mother claiming benefits.
She apologised and told the court she was suffering stress at the time. She said she had suffered three sleepless nights, one of her children had smashed her mobile telephone and her aunt, in a nursing home, also had problems she had had to deal with.
’I was under immense pressure. My aunt is often with me if I visit Shoprite,’ she said.
She was fined £50 with £125 costs.
