A 21-year-old Douglas man has admitted drug-dealing.

Jamie Shaun Robinson pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possession of the drug.

Magistrates committed him to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing and he will appear there on May 21.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police executed a search warrant at Robinson’s home at Clifton Terrace on August 21 last year.

They only found 0.2 grams of cannabis valued at £4 and a joint said to be worth £5.

However, after his mobile phone was analysed police found evidence that he had been involved in supplying the drug between April 2019 and October 2020.

Numerous messages offering cannabis to others were found as well as evidence of Robinson acting as a ’go between’.

When interviewed he admitted being involved in supplying the drug as well as sourcing and collecting it for others.

Robinson told police that it was usually close friends he supplied to though he admitted also there had also been a couple of people he did not know.

He denied he was a large scale dealer.

Defence advocate Louise Cooil handed in a basis of plea for her client which said that Robinson was a low-level dealer who had not dealt for financial gain.

He also questioned the date of April 2019 for the start of the dealing.

The basis of plea was not accepted by the prosecution and a Newton Hearing may be needed if the facts cannot be agreed.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500.
