A 32-year-old man has admitted drug-dealing after being caught with cocaine and cannabis.

Daniel Jonathan Fick, of Park Road, Douglas, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply and simple possession of cocaine.

He will be sentenced on February 9 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecuting advocate Chrissie Hunt told the court that police in plain clothes were on patrol on bicycles when they stopped to speak to Fick who was walking.

He was said to have appeared nervous and when asked if he had any drugs replied: ’Yes, I’ve just got a little bit of cannabis.’

Police found four bags of the drug in his pockets and a further search of his home later found a small amount of cocaine.

An analysis of his mobile phone showed messages which implicated in low-level drug dealing in relation to the cannabis.

When interviewed he answered ’no comment’ to all questions.

The cannabis found weighed 34.9 grams and was valued at £698 while the cocaine was said to be worth £15.

Ms Hunt said that the case was suitable for summary court sentencing.

Defence advocate Jim Travers said that there was a very low quantity of class ’A’ drugs.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes accepted jurisdiction and ordered that the probation report consider all options, including custody.

The case will be due for mention on February 2 but Fick will not be required to attend court on that date.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions to reside at his home address and contact probation.
