A drugs trafficker has been sent to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing.

Glen Matthew Batty pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply and possessing criminal property, namely £1,000 in cash.

He will be sentenced at the higher court on April 9 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that police executed a search warrant at Batty’s Tennis Road, Douglas, address on February 25.

He was not at the property at the time but police found two large packages containing cannabis, one weighing 28.1 grams, and the other 28.2 grams, valued at a total of £1,689.

Also found was £1,000 in cash, scales, snap bags, and tick lists.

Other cannabis was also found around the property and, overall, police found a total of 76.7 grams.

Batty was later arrested and said that all the drugs were his.

When interviewed he told police he sold drugs and admitted that the £1,000 was the proceeds of crime.

He said that he had sent money to an account in the UK in the past.

Mr Kane submitted that the case was not suitable for summary court sentencing and should be committed to the higher court.

Defence advocate Kate Alexander agreed that the case should go to the Court of General Gaol Delivery and asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions to live at his home address, to contact probation, and not to leave the island without court permission.
