A 33-year-old man has been put on probation for 12 months after being found drunk and incapable and breaching a licensing ban.
Slawomir Marchewka, of Victoria Road, Douglas, pleaded guilty to both offences.
Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that Marchewka was banned from buying alcohol on January 25 for two months.
However, on February 2 staff at Newbys in Glen Falcon Road in Douglas reported that he had entered the shop and tried to buy a bottle of chardonnay wine. He was recognised from the banning book.
On March 2 at 4.30pm police were called to Westminster Terrace in Douglas after concerns for the welfare of a man who was seen slumped against a fence.
When officers arrived they found Marchewka lying on the ground on a path behind Ballabrooie Close with his eyes closed.
They managed to rouse him and he was taken to hospital.
A probation report said that Marchewka has been in the island for nearly 17 years, having come from Poland.
The report said that he had always worked until earlier this year when he was made redundant, which had caused him anxiety and poor mental health.
He was working with Motiv8 and been referred to the Drug and Alcohol Team.
