A financial consultant who was so drunk on Senior Race Day that he had to be taken to Noble’s Hospital has been fined £500.
O’Neill, aged 34, pleaded guilty to being drunk and indecent and failing to leave licensed premises and was fined £250 for each offence by magistrates.
He was also banned from entering licensed premises and purchasing or being sold alcohol for six months.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the court that O’Neill was asked to leave Jaks by doorstaff at 2.10am on June 8.
He went outside but then stood by the exit which is still part of the licensed premises.
O’Neill then proceeded to urinate.
He continued to refuse to leave the licensed area until police arrived and reiterated the request.
O’Neill was then said to have fallen back onto a window sill and was described as being barely able to speak or stand.
As he was arrested police held him up and put him into a van.
At police headquarters he was considered in such a bad state that he was taken to the Accident and Emergency department at Noble’s Hospital.
The court heard that he has two previous convictions and two cautions.
Three of those relate to being drunk and incapable and one to being drunk and disorderly.
Defence advocate Ian Kermode said: ’The facts are accepted.
’Mr O’Neill had been out socialising on Senior Race Day.
’Unfortunately he became so drunk he doesn’t remember any of the facts.
’He doesn’t remember arriving at Jaks or being arrested. He just remembers waking up in A & E. But to his credit he has accepted the facts.’
Mr Kermode said: ’He intends to leave the island next week. He has already apologised to the police in person.’
Magistrates also ordered O’Neill to pay £50 prosecution costs.
He was given 14 days to pay the fine and costs.
