A drunken teenager who was seen by police shouting abuse at a woman has been fined.

Jamie Daniel Trevor Watson, of Falcon Cliff Terrace, Douglas, admitted swearing and shouting abuse at a woman in Victoria Street, Douglas, and was arrested due to his drunken state.

He was fined £300 for being drunk and disorderly.

Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court that Watson, who is 19, was seen by police walking on Victoria Street in Douglas at 12.50am on October 27.

He was shouting abuse at a female and was said to be unsteady on his feet, slurring his words and have glazed eyes.

He was arrested due to his drunken state.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood said: ’There were shouts to Mr Watson before he responded though we are not saying this is an excuse.

’There was a degree of provocation. But he accepts you can’t be shouting that kind of thing in the street.’

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered Watson to pay £125 prosecution costs.
