Fire crews were called to the Energy from Waste plant following a report of a fire in a steam turbine.
The call out happened at about 10am yesterday (Tuesday) and firefighters were at the scene, in Richmond Hill, Douglas.
Douglas fire station officer Matt Tyrer said crews confirmed with staff the fire had been extinguished but the machinery was retaining heat and likely to reignite.
Fire crews and an on-site specialist donned breathing apparatus equipment to inspect the turbine, remove insulating lagging and checking for hotspots with thermal imaging cameras. Douglas fire station officer Matt Tyrer said this allowed the turbine to cool down in a controlled manner. He said there was no damage to the turbine.
