David Ralph Hewitt Banning, aged 65, of Ballanard Road, Douglas, has appeared in court charged with making or having possession of explosives.

He is also accused of possessing a regulated weapon without a certificate.

Mr Banning’s advocate Jessica McManus told the court that her client was waiting for a place at a mental health and addiction clinic to be confirmed as available, at which point a bail application will be made.

The case was adjourned until October 23 but may be brought back to court sooner if a place is confirmed as available
