A father and son from Northern Ireland have been charged with breaching Isle of Man fishing restrictions in relation to king scallops.

Tom Banford and his son John Banford, both of Newcastle Road, Kilkeel, County Down, are accused of committing the offence on February 6.

The vessel concerned is the ’Aquaria’ which they co-own and of which John Banford is the skipper.

Tom Banford appeared in court, having travelled to the island, but John Banford did not travel, stating that they had misunderstood and thought that the father could represent both of them.

The case was adjourned until September 7 while it is ascertained whether they may both appear via video link.

Their ages were not given in court.
