A 36-year-old man has been fined £400 after being involved in a fight after a Black Eye Friday night out.
Christopher Anderson, of New Castletown Road, Douglas, admitted being drunk and disorderly outside the Villa Marina on December 21.
Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court how police on patrol saw Anderson fighting with another man outside the Villa at 4.35am.
The pair were said to be throwing punches at each other and had to be separated by police using Pava spray.
Anderson was said to be slurring his words, unsteady on his feet, and smelling of alcohol.
Both men were arrested and the other man was dealt with during a separate court appearance.
Defending Anderson in court his advocate Paul Glover said that his client had not committed any offences for 16 years and asked for the drunk and disorderly to be dealt with by way of a financial penalty.
’He was out celebrating Christmas,’ said the advocate. ’He should have known better but neither party suffered any significant injuries.’
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told Anderson that the offence was aggravated by the fact it was committed during the Christmas period when police were extremely busy.
She also ordered him to pay £125 prosecution costs which he will pay, along with the fine, at a rate of £50 per month.
