A 23-year-old Ballasalla man has been fined £275 after admitting being drunk and disorderly outside a Douglas nightclub.

Joshua David Campbell, of Poacher’s Pocket, was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.

Prosecutor Michael Jelski told the court how, at 2.45am on August 26, police saw Campbell fighting with another man outside the Outback bar in Barrack Street in Douglas.

Punches were exchanged and Campbell was seen putting the man in a headlock.

Officers pulled Campbell off the man and he was put to the ground, restrained and handcuffed.

He swore at police and kicked a cage door as he was put in the back of a police van and taken to police headquarters.

Defending Campbell in court advocate Roger Kane said that his client worked in the kitchen on licensed premises .

’This was in effect a drunken scuffle outside a nightclub which he regrets,’ Mr Kane said.

’He does not recall the words he was alleged to have used. He wishes to apologise to the other man and the court.’
