A Liverpool Football Club fan who was arrested after celebrating his team winning the Premier League has admitted a charge of being drunk and incapable.
John Kirkland, 46, of Anagh Coar Road, Douglas, was fined £200 by High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Tuesday.
Prosecutor James Robinson said the police were called to Victoria Street at 1.15am to reports of a man being unconscious on the pavement.
Officers found Kirkland drunk and asleep with his trousers pulled down and had to help him to his feet.
Defence advocate James Peterson said his client had been out celebrating Liverpool winning the title with a friend and had drunk too much.
He said Kirkland ’apologises profusely’ to the court, the police and the public for his actions which he said was an ’unfortunate blip’ in his struggles with alcohol.
Mrs Hughes said his state must have been an ’unpleasant experience’ for members of the public and the police but said she would accept that it was a ’one off’ and noted he was no further trouble for police.
She fined Kirkland £200 and ordered to pay £125 costs at a rate of £10 per week.
