A 21-year-old man has been fined £900 for possessing £28-worth of cannabis.

Jake James Bostock, of Empress Drive, Douglas, pleaded guilty to the offence and was also ordered by magistrates to pay £50 prosecution costs.

The court heard that police found 1.4 grams of the drug at his home on April 14 after a search warrant was executed.

When interviewed Bostock said it was for personal use.

The court heard that he has previous convictions in December for possession of cocaine and cannabis, as well as obstructing a drug search, for which he was sentenced to community service.

Defence advocate Paul Glover said that his client was currently receiving income support benefit and was ’incredibly sorry for his actions’.

The court heard that Bostock also owes £340 in outstanding fines which he said he could pay immediately.

Magistrates ordered him to pay his latest fine and costs at a rate of £20 per week, deducted from benefits.
