Fire services have dealt with a fire at the Palace Cinema in Douglas this morning, Sunday.
Station Officer David Cowley said: ’Crews from Douglas this morning were dispatched to reports of a fire at the Palace Cinema.
’Upon arrival the officer in charge committed firefighters wearing breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire and ventilate the smoke-logged premises.
’No further information is available at this time.’The cinema later confirmed that the fire had been confined to a boiler filter and that it would be reopening on Monday.A statement read: 'At 9am this morning, the fire service attended Palace Cinema to deal with an alarm call that was triggered by a minor fire in the filter of the screen two boiler. 'The incident was quickly dealt with, and no damage was caused other than to the filter and its cover.'Due to the remedial work arising from the incident, we have unfortunately had to cancel the showings scheduled for today.'The cinema will be back in operation tomorrow, with additional showings scheduled for No Time to Die.'We would like to apologise to customers impacted by the issue and assure them that we will offer rescheduled bookings at the earliest possible time.'
