Two fire crews were called out to a house fire in Peel.
It happened at a house in Queen Street just after 10.30pm yesterday (Friday).
Station officer Tony Duncan said: ‘The resident of the property reported a power failure immediately followed by the smoke alarm sounding.
‘A fire quickly took hold within the electrical box situated in the hallway of the property which, in turn, began to spread to the roof space.
‘On arrival crews wearing breathing apparatus isolated the electrical supply before extinguishing the fire.
‘A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to ventilate the property before cutting away, damping down and checking for hotspots with a thermal imaging camera.’
Crews remained in attendance for 90 minutes.
