Fire fighters from Douglas had to mobilise an aerial appliance to reach a fire at the rear of Strathallan Crescent.
The fire had started at the bottom of the hillside and had spread up behind the properties.
Due to the location of the fire, it was difficult to access and the aerial appliance (pictured) was required in order to extinguish the fire.
A spokesman said: ’We have had a number of outside fires started by barbecues over the last few weeks, if you are using a barbecue please make sure it is in good working order, it is on a flat surface and situated away from buildings, trees and shrubs.
’Children, garden games and pets should be kept well away from the cooking area. Never leave a barbecue unattended and always keep a bucket of water or sand nearby and ensure the barbecue is cool before attempting to move it.’
