Firefighters tackled a gorse fire on Peel Headlands last night.

Two pumping appliance and a 6x6 Off-road Vehicle were used.

Peel and Kirk Michael crews were called after 999 calls.

A large area of gorse/heathland was well alight.

Crews quickly prevented the fire from spreading further using jets to initially extinguish the fire and then continued to dampen down the area to prevent further ignition and fire spread.

Crews were in attendance for about two hours damping down hot spots and checking over the area with a thermal image camera.
