Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze in a kitchen in a first-floor flat in Douglas on Monday evening.
They were alerted at 6.50pm to the address on Westmoreland Road.
Everyone who lived in the flat had left the building before the fire service arrived.
Three fire engines were sent.
A team wearing breating apparatus entered the smoke-logged property with a high pressure hose reel.
The grill pan fire was out on arrival.
A fan was used to ventilate the property and a thermal imaging camera checked for hot spots.
Crews were there for 30 minutes.
A fire brigade spokesman said: ’We would like to remind the public that, should you discover a fire, you should close the door on the fire and get out of the property, call the fire service from a safe place and stay out.’
