Ramsey firefighters were called to a farm in Bride today (Thursday) following a report of a JCB telehandler fire that was in danger of spreading to nearby barns.

On arrival, fire crews found that the farmer had released cattle from an open-sided barn to a place of safety.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus sets extinguished the fire using two hose reels and a jet.

A mechanical fault is believed to have been the cause of the fire.

Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour and a half.
