Firefighters tackled a blazing car that was about 150 metres away from the road.
They were called out early this morning to the Mountain Road between the Creg Ny Baa and Brandywell.
When fire crews arrived the car that was well alight.
The Officer in Charge deployed a team with a hose reel to extinguish the fire and damp down the surrounding area to ensure there was no fire spread on to the grassland.
Additional appliances were used for water supplies and the police closed the road to ensure the safety of firefighters whilst they dealt with the incident.
A fire spokesman described the incident was challenging due to the distance of the car from the road and the dry conditions creating a significant risk of fire spread on to the grassland.
