Police are investigating thefts of diesel and fuel oil that have taken place in the south of the island in recent weeks.

In the last week, 700 litres of agricultural fuel oil was taken from a farm in the Ballagawne Road area of Colby.

The fuel is distinctive as it is dyed red.

Members of the public who own fuel tanks for domestic and agricultural fuel and oil are being advised to secure the tanks if possible, and consider whether there are any other theft prevention measures they can take.

Last month, a large quantity of heating oil was stolen from outside a house on Victoria Road, Castletown. The tank was damaged in the incident.

Anybody with information about the fuel thefts is asked to contact Castletown police station on 822222 or Douglas Police Headquarters on 631212.
