The police are again appealing for people required to self isolate to do so.

Under the Emergency Powers Act, brought into force by Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney last week, people who are returning to the island or displaying symptoms, are required to self isolate for at least 14 days.

Despite this, individuals are failing to do so and the police say this has resulted in them ’having to use a lot of our resources to chase up reports of persons failing to self isolate’.

A spokesman added: ’If people fail to self isolate people will die and this situation could go on a lot longer.

’We can all work together to stop this as soon as possible. We will deal with offenders.’

The police also called on the public to follow the self distancing advice of remaining two metres apart.
