Investigations are being carried out into the cause of an engine fire on a bus.
Firefighters were called to Loch Promenade this morning (Friday), where they tackled a fire in the engine compartment at the rear of the Bus Vannin single-decker vehicle.
’The bus driver was travelling down Victoria Street when he noticed smoke issuing from the rear of the bus, and promptly pulled over and escorted the passengers safely of the bus.
’Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire which was confined to the engine compartment at the rear of the bus, and were in attendance for about 30 minutes.
’Bus Vannin have recovered the bus back to the depot were they will examine the vehicle to establish the cause of the fire.’
Police confirmed there were no casualties.
The road was closed from the Sea Terminal to the Jubilee Clock while firefighters dealt with the fire.
