A man who breached Covid-19 restrictions in April was this week sentenced to four weeks’ custody.
Liam Priestnal has already spent that time in jail on remand so he doesn’t have to spend any more time there.
The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence in April and was remanded but at the same time pleaded not guilty to obstructing police so the case was adjourned.
Priestnal has since changed his plea regarding the obstruct charge to guilty.
Deputy High Bailiff Chris Arrowsmith fined him £750 for that offence and also ordered him to pay £50 costs.
In coverage of a previous court appearance, we reported that Priestnal, who lives in Lheannag Park, Douglas, admitted that he was absent from his permanent residence on April 16.
He was seen entering a house on Hillside Avenue in Douglas on that date.
As people in the Hillside Avenue address had tested positive for coronavirus, officers who entered the property were required to wear personal protective equipment.
A probation report recommended a financial penalty as an appropriate sentence.
He will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £50 per week.
