The girlfriend of a man who claimed to jet ski to the island from Scotland in December appeared in court again on Thursday facing assault charges and a Covid-19 restriction breach.

Jessica Marguerita Radcliffe, aged 30, of Cushag Road, Anagh Coar, and her friend Louise Bradley, aged 33, of Cronk Grianagh, Braddan, are charged with breaching the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, assault causing actual bodily harm, assaulting a police officer, and two counts of causing criminal damage.

Representing Radcliffe, duty advocate Kate Alexander asked for an adjournment, saying that her client had been unable to find an advocate to represent her yet, despite trying four, who she said were all busy.

Ms Bradley was represented by Stephen Wood who said that legal aid had only just been finalised and asked for an adjournment to allow time for discussions with the prosecution.

We previously reported that the prosecution case is that on March 31 the pair drove to Port Erin, to the home of a woman with whom they had a long-running feud.

They are then alleged to have left their car in the street with doors open and forced their way into her home.

It is further alleged that they grabbed the woman’s phone and smashed it before subjecting her to an attack, kicking and punching her.

Neither of the accused has yet entered pleas to any of the allegations.

The case was adjourned until May 13 with bail continuing for both women in the sum of £500 and conditions to live at their home address, not enter Port Erin, not associate with each other, and not contact witnesses.

In December, Dale McLaughlan made headlines across the world when he claimed to have travelled to the Isle of Man from Scotland by jet ski.

He came to see his girlfriend, Jessica Radcliffe.

He was jailed for breaching the island’s Covid entry regulations.
