A 47-year-old man who had a ’lapse of concentration’ has been fined £500 for driving without due care or attention.

James Daniel Kinley, of Bromet Grove, Crosby, admitted hitting a vehicle at the junction of Selborne Drive and Tennis Road in Douglas on March 1.

He also had his licence endorsed with six penalty points.

Prosecutor Michael Jelski told the court how a woman driving a Vauxhall Corsa was struck by Kinley’s vehicle at the junction causing her car to spin.

Kinley got out of his car and said: ’Are you ok? I’m sorry it was my fault.’

In a police interview he told police it had been a lapse of concentration.

The court heard that he held a clean licence and there were no injuries caused.

He was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
