Fire crews attended the scene of a lift that was on fire on Prospect Hill.
An automatic fire alarm at Hillary House offices in Douglas alerted the crew on Wednesday (February 20) at 4.36pm.
Wearing breathing apparatuses, the crew located the fire on the roof of the lift car, which was on the fourth floor. They tackled the flames using carbon dioxide and dry powder extinguishers until it was confined to the electrical motor and switch gear on the lift’s roof.
Once the power had been isolated, they then used a hose reel to dampen the area before clearing the staircase of smoke.
