A Liverpudlian has admitted trying to smuggle heroin and cocaine into the island on the ferry.
Paige Alexandra Shannon Thomason, of Chirkdale Street, hid the drugs inside her body and was arrested at the Sea Terminal on July 27.
Appearing in court via video link from the prison, 29-year-old Thomason pleaded guilty to production of heroin to the island, production (importation) of cocaine to the island, possession of heroin with intent to supply, and possession of cocaine.
Two other charges, of possession of a prohibited article in a public place, namely Stanley knives, were withdrawn in light of the guilty pleas to the drug offences.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that the drugs seized were heroin weighing 53.19 grams, valued at between £6,648 and £13,297, and cocaine weighing 0.9 grams, valued at between £118 and £237.
Ms Cubbon submitted that the case was too serious for summary court and should be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing.
Defence advocate David Reynolds agreed and asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.
Mr Reynolds said that his client had been dealing with the Drug and Alcohol Team in Liverpool so he would also be obtaining input from them.
Thomason was committed to the higher court and will appear there on September 10 for sentencing.
No bail application was made and she is remanded in custody.
