A man from Essex has admitted bringing £69,734 worth of cannabis to the island.

Andre Piere Osbourne, aged 37, of Kimberley Avenue, Ilford, pleaded guilty to an offence of production of cannabis when he appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Tuesday.

The offence was discovered at the Sea Terminal on Thursday last week (May 16).

Osbourne also admitted a charge of possession of the drug with intent to supply and possession.

Mrs Hughes declined jurisdiction of the case, saying her summary court powers would be insufficient for sentencing and the case should go to the higher court.

Advocate James Peterson said he had to agree that sentencing must take place in the higher court.

Osbourne was committed and will make his first appearance at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on Monday, June 3. No bail application was made and Osbourne was remanded in custody until his appearance at the higher court.
