A 23-year-old man from Douglas has denied animal cruelty

Cyrus Mendoza Tan, of Albert Street, is accused of two counts of causing unnecessary suffering and death to an animal.

The offences are alleged to have been committed on September 18 and November 21.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges and a trial has been scheduled to take place on July 19 and 20 in summary court.

He has pleaded guilty to separate offences of provoking behaviour, damaging property and possession of cannabis and will be sentenced for those after the conclusion of the trial.
