A 28-year-old Douglas man has been convicted of provoking behaviour after a row in a chemist over his prescription.

Jonathon Anthony Blakeley, of Empress Drive, pleaded guilty to the charge and will be sentenced on October 3 after the preparation of a probation report.

The court heard how, on August 8, Blakeley entered Kinrade pharmacy on Ballaquayle Road in Douglas to collect a prescription.

A number of other people were in the pharmacy, including a child, when the incident occurred.

Blakeley was said to have been unhappy with the prescription he had received and demanded more tablets and a higher dosage.

He was told by the pharmacist to query it with the issuer of the prescription.

After trying unsuccessfully to call the Drug and Alcohol Team Blakeley was said to have thrown his prescription onto the floor.

He was said to have remonstrated with the pharmacist as he tried to go back behind the counter and said: ’Get out of my face’, while clenching his fist.

The pharmacist said that he feared he was going to be hit by Blakeley and took off his glasses in anticipation.

A witness called the police and Blakeley was arrested.

Bail was granted.
