A man from Ramsey has pleaded guilty to an offence which breached Covid-19 regulations.

Craig Jack Anderson of Gladstone Avenue, Ramsey, was arrested on January 10 at the Sea Terminal in Douglas for speaking to police officers there under a false name.

The 26-year-old appeared via live link from the Isle of Man Prison before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Tuesday morning.

Ms Hughes described how the defendant knowingly applied misinformation to police, identifying himself as Nathan Jackson, and in doing so breached the island’s Public Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020.’

Director of Prosecutions Chrissie Hunt stated that Anderson had been asked by a police officer to complete a landing card, which he signed ’C Anderson’ and was subsequently arrested.

Ms Hunt said: ’To his credit, Mr Anderson made his admission to police yesterday.’

Anderson’s defending advocate, Louise Cooil, said her client agreed to the fine of £125 for misinformation and that there was no application for bail.

Ms Hughes concluded that Mr Anderson would remain in custody and is due to reappear in court on January 19 for a matter on December 5, relating to a charge of driving while disqualified.
