Kevin Paul Murphy, aged 39, of Hillside Terrace, Douglas, has been charged with drink-driving, alleged to have been committed on New Year’s Day.

He is also accused of disorderly behaviour on licensed premises, resisting arrest, and failing to leave licensed premises, alleged on December 19.

He was represented in court by duty advocate Louise Cooil who asked for an adjournment saying that a back calculation had recently been received regarding the drink-driving reading.

Mr Murphy asked for a four-week adjournment to allow time to instruct an advocate but High Bailiff Jayne Hughes allowed him three weeks, until February 23, saying that he could have already instructed an advocate and pleas would be expected on his next appearance.

Mr Murphy claimed that Covid-19 restrictions had stopped him doing so but Mrs Hughes told him there was no reason he could not have done so by phone.

Bail continues in the sum of £500.
