A 22-year-old Castletown man was this week put on probation for two years for being drunk and disorderly.

Keiran Michael Cain, of Farrants Way, was arrested on July 30 after a witness reported seeing him kicking windows and pulling up flowers in Castletown square.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told magistrates that police officers were called at 9pm and found Cain outside the Union pub on Arbory Street.

The defendant was described as shouting, unsteady on his feet, smelling of alcohol and having glazed eyes.

He was then seen kicking the window of Lloyds pharmacy as he continued to shout and swear before being arrested.

The court heard that Cain was already subject to an 18-month probation order, which had been imposed in May.

A probation report described him as a ’vulnerable young man’ and said that he had been working well with probation.

Defence advocate Louise Cooil said that her client had difficulties with alcohol and had no memory of the incident.

Magistrates ruled that the new two-year probation order should replace the 18-month one imposed in May.

No order for costs was made.
