A 36-year-old man from Anagh Coar has been fined £200 after admitting failing to leave licensed premises when ordered to.

David Mark Priestnal, of Darragh Way, previously pleaded not guilty to disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.

But agreed to change his plea when the new replacement charge was offered.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court how, on June 8 at 6pm, police were called to Quids Inn on Loch Promenade in Douglas.

Priestnal was alleged to have been throwing beer mats around and was asked to leave the pub.

He refused to do so, arguing with staff and demanding an explanation for why he was being asked to leave.

He was subsequently arrested.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood said that the offence had occurred around the TT period.

’Mr Priestnal denies he was throwing beer mats. But he was irresponsible.

’He could have saved himself a considerable amount of time at the police station and being arrested in front of everyone at the pub he frequents, had he just left when he was asked.

’I would submit he has gone through the mill already on this matter but it’s clear he should have left when asked to do so.’

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered Priestnal to pay £50 prosecution costs.
