A 21-year-old man has admitted spitting in a pregnant woman’s face.

Dillon Frazer Cowie pleaded guilty to common assault on a female and will be sentenced on November 5.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court that the woman drove to the Barbary Coast bar and restaurant on the quay in Douglas at 7.20pm on September 22.

She was there to collect friends but Cowie was said to have approached her car shouting and banged on the roof and window.

She said he then spat through the window with it landing on the left of her face and threw a drink and a can of deodorant towards the car.

Mr Swain said that the woman had not come to any harm but described her being spat at as a ’nasty experience’.

Defence advocate Louise Cooil entered a basis of plea on behalf of Cowie in which he admitted spitting and said that he had thrown the deodorant can recklessly as well as the contents of a glass in the direction of the car.

Cowie, who lives in Marathon Drive, Douglas, was said to be on police bail in relation to another matter so sentencing for this offence was adjourned until after the outcome of that.

He will be sentenced at 9.45am on November 5.
