A man who has admitted possession of about 18,000 indecent images of children has surrendered his bail and been remanded in custody.
Vincent Campbell, aged 66, of Hope Street, Douglas, previously admitted four counts of possessing indecent images of children.
The images, on his home computer, range from one to five on the Copine Scale used for measuring the severity of the pictures or videos.
On Tuesday, Campbell’s advocate Stephen Wood said that his client now wished to surrender his bail and be remanded in custody.
Mr Wood said Campbell’s employment had ended and the legal aid position would need to be reviewed.
He was previously granted bail after putting up a surety of £5,000 with a friend putting up a further £5,000 surety.
He had also applied to be allowed to go on holiday to Thailand over Christmas but the request was denied by Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.
Campbell is due to appear at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on January 28.
