A mechanic has admitted forgetting to set a parking brake which caused a car to roll down a hill and demolish a shed and fencing in Laxey.
Andrew Caley, of Eskdale Road, Onchan, did not appear in court but sent a postal admission to an offence of failing to set a parking brake.
Magistrates fined the 31-year-old £250 and ordered him to pay £50 prosecution costs.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court how Caley was carrying out work on the Suzuki Vitara after being called to Minorca Hill in Laxey on May 12.
However, while he was there the vehicle started rolling away. It rolled into a property destroying fencing, damaging plumbing and demolishing a shed.
Ms Cubbon said that compensation had been dealt with by insurers.
In the postal admission mitigation Caley said that he had not been the first person to attend to the vehicle but he accepted that he should have checked that the parking brake was set.
Magistrates gave him two months to pay the fine and costs.
